We all know that getting our Vit D fix from natural light is a great way to boost our mental health but did you know that it’s vital for physical health too? Not only that but natural lighting (or lack thereof) is consistently named as a make-or-break factor in purchasing decisions when it comes to buying a home.
Now we aren’t necessarily suggesting you start knocking holes into walls to let the light in but there are some less extreme things you can do to boost your supply of sunshine if you’re on a budget.
1: Double your light source with white paint and strategically placed Mirrors:
Reflective surfaces, such as white painted ceilings and walls, will bounce light around the room, making it brighter and giving the illusion of a larger, more open space.
For maximum impact, harness any natural light source by placing a mirror on the wall directly opposite to double up on your rays.
Feeling creative? Experiment with artwork with reflective surfaces or metallic accents to create a more textured look or fun light pattern. The best part is you can use this trick in any room of the house – it’s a quick and easy way to give your whole space a facelift.

2: Keep your windows clean:
Ok this may seem obvious but you’d be surprised how often it gets forgotten: Dirty windows can make have a big impact on the amount of light that enters a space!
A quick clean is the easiest way to flood your space with light glorious light.

3: Smart furniture placement:
Limited space means we often see furniture partially blocking light sources but you’d be surprised what a negative impact even a small obstruction can have on the lighting of a space.
When you’re arranging your furniture, get creative to allow for enough space for light to come in. You can also experiment with different curtain/blind options to allow for the perfect balance between privacy and natural light.

4. Install solar tubes or skylights:
There is also the option of installing solar tubes or skylights.
Solar tubes are relatively inexpensive and easy to install, and are a great way to boost your natural light whereas Skylights Can be more expensive but are a great option for those who are really dedicated to getting that vitamin D.
